Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald | Movie Review

Hello to all wizards, witches and muggles!

As we all know, the second movie set in The Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them universe was recently just released and I managed to watch it twice. I have now, hopefully already gathered my thoughts and ready to write this review for this fantastic movie.

This movie starts again three months after the last movie and we follow along Newt Scamander’s journey and among other characters like Credence, Queenie, Tina and Grindelwald with his followers.

Can we first talk about the new characters though? In this movie, there were quite a few new characters that to is seem so familiar yet not at the same time. We might feel that way because of their last name.

Theseus Scamander is an auror who works with the ministry of magic and also in Newt’s words is a hugger. We don’t really get to see much of him but I look forward to how he will further be developed in the next movie. What we can say for now is that he is a passionate and dedicated wizard.

Leta Lestrange plays somewhat a huge role in the development of the story where she reveals that she is involved to figuring out who Credence really is. She was brave, misunderstood by her peers and deserves more. I think that she really is an underrated character who was gone too fast before we could really see her in action.

Albus Dumbledore is not a new character and one that everyone is very familiar with if they have been reading the Harry Potter books or have just seen the movies. This time, Albus has a major role throughout the movie. He is linked with Grindelwald and they have a pact that they will never against each other. I have an inkling that the link isn’t merely just a link, I believe that there is more that you can notice if you do read between the lines.

The only thing I can say about Nagini is that she is beautiful and the scenes with her in it aren’t that much for me to actually talk about her.

Nicolas Flamel was such a joyful surprise and he is considered a legend in the wizarding world. I wasn’t really expecting him to be so humorous and funny when you would imagine an immortal alchemist but that’s exactly what he is.

Now, let’s delve into this and talk about just how magical the entire movie was because it absolutely is. I felt nostalgic seeing the sight of Hogwarts and pretty much about everything else.

This movie was basically just a filler before the big things really do happen and I’m excited and nervous to think about the events that might happen next. Slowly, Grindelwald is massing up his followers, makes them hear his oh-so-noble speech about how he is fighting for the greater good and slowly how he baits Credence to join him. He might have a few good points, but it still isn’t right for him to be so violent and evil about certain things.

Newt and Tina though, can you two stop beating around the bush and just confess your feelings already? I’m so frustrated by how sweet they are at times. I mean it’s too obvious and they really should just get to it already.

In the next movie, I am predicting a blood bath, a great battle between evil and good and more fantastic and super adorable beasts! For now, We’ll just have to be patient and wait it out.
