NANOWRIMO 2017

Hello all!

Wow, did I seriously just posted a blog post where I don’t post book reviews? Yes, that is correct. I thought it is time that I spice up my blog a little. Baby steps…

Let’s get down to business now, shall we? For today’s post, I will be talking about the book I’m writing for NaNoWriMo this year. I will be talking about it in a form of Q&A’s.

But first, if you’re unfamiliar with what NaNoWriMo is, let me tell you!

National Novel Writing Month (often shortened to NaNoWriMo is an annual, Internet-based creative writing project that takes place during the month of November. Participants attempt to write a 50,000 word manuscript between November 1st-November 30th. NaNoWriMo focuses on the length of a work rather than the quality, encouraging writers to finish their first draft so that it can later be edited at the author’s discretion.

Now, that you guys know what it is about, I will now be answering questions that was provided from Cait about my book that I will be writing during NaNoWriMo. Bare in mind that I will try my best to answer these questions without giving away too much. I still prefer to have the element of surprise and keep every secret of this book close to me. *evil laughs*

  • What inspired your idea for your novel, and how long have you had the idea?

I’m not sure where I got the inspiration for this book but I just know it one day that I must write it. The idea just came to me and I couldn’t ignore it. I have had the idea of this book for 3 years now and that is also how long I have been writing the book.

  • Describe what your novel is about!

My novel is dystopian. Set in the future in a city where people don’t get to live their lives they way they want it to. My novel centers around the lives of four teenagers who are trying to figure out what is going on as strange things start to occur and how they can fix it.

  • What is your book’s aesthetic?

Of course, I’d prefer if there was an aesthetic for this one but finding and scouring for pictures take a lot of time and I don’t want to do that. Maybe I’ll make one when I’ve finished writing the first draft.

  • Introduce us to each of your characters!

As I said, my novel centers around the lives of four teenagers. There are two boys and two girls, with very different personalities that sometimes contradict the situation.

  • How do you prepare to write?

Are we talking about mentally or physically? Haha! Well, I will have to psych myself into convincing myself that I will write and I can do it because it is not easy, I tell you! I will always have my notebook with me where I have my messy scribbles of the plot and what I want to happen next. I will jot down what happens for every chapter because that makes my job way easier. You should try it too! I don’t depend on electronic outlining (Excel or Words) because I love the good old way of writing things down.

  • What are you most looking forward to about this novel?

The end. I have been writing this for too long and I wish so bad to reach the finished first draft.

  • List three things about your novel’s setting!

Future. Dark. Troubles.

  • What’s your character’s goal and who (or what) stands in the way?

He’s still trying to figure that one out as the plot thickens. You’ll just have to wait and see.

  • How does the protagonist change by the end of the novel?

Maybe he’ll become more mature and know what the hell is going on? I’m still trying to figure it all here! *asks for help*

  • What are your book’s themes?

What comes to my mind when talking about themes? To be honest, I too am still trying to figure it out!

If you guys want to introduce your novel too, here is the link to the questions. And if you guys are doing NaNoWriMo too, I wish you all the best! Good luck!
